Product Features Introduction:
Alloy K-500 is a nickel-copper alloy that incorporates the excellent corrosion resistance of Alloy 400 and imparts greater strength and hardness. Alloy K-500 provides 3 times higher yield strength than Alloy 400. These enhanced properties are mainly achieved through the addition of aluminum and titanium elements and age hardening based on nickel as the main element. A small amount of Titanium and Aluminum were precipitated into the matrix during the age hardening process. K-500's low permeability, high strength and good corrosion resistance have been widely used, mainly in oil well detection materials and electronic components. An important property is that K-500 remains non-magnetic even at very low temperatures. Age hardening will produce the original volumetric shrinkage. During the age hardening process, a round rod with a diameter of 2.5 x 10-4 in shrinks. For good properties, a typical age hardening process is described below: hold at 982°C for 30 minutes followed by water quench annealing. Hold at 593°C-607°C for 16 hours and then slowly cool in oven 9.4°C – 3.8°C per hour until 482°C. Then cool down from 482°C to room temperature, some boiler cooling, air cooling or quenching may be required in between, regardless of the cooling rate.
